Third-year Nursing students at UKZN who are placed at R K Khan Hospital hosted a breast and cervical cancer awareness workshop to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
The aim of the workshop was to share crucial knowledge that could significantly impact women’s health.
Awareness, early detection, and prevention are powerful weapons in the fight against cancer. The talks presented at the workshop included information on pre-disposing causes, signs and symptoms, preventative measures (including the significance of the HPV Vaccine), how to adopt healthier lifestyles, and the treatment available to cancer patients.
The students expressed their gratitude to Dr Hafaza Amod and Mrs Zanele Zondi for their guidance and support which played a vital role in the workshop’s outcomes.
The students were also commended for their dedication and commitment, with each playing a crucial role in delivering the messages on cancer awareness and prevention to workshop participants.
