Social Sciences student, Mr Khethani Njoko, is passionate about social change. His life experiences led him to question the cause of ‘immoral’ behaviour by men and to the establishment of an organisation at UKZN called Man In Responsibility, which aims to identify and resolve the issues faced by young men on campus.

The organisation is built on four pillars of manhood, namely, the conscience, the self, spiritual connection and the spirit of ubuntu. It has three departments, toddlers, juniors and seniors.

Toddlers and juniors’ workshops are held at various primary and high schools in KwaZulu-Natal, while seniors are students at university level.

The organisation hosted a public debate during the last week in April, while the Isigcawu took place in the last week of September. This cultural event was an opportunity for students to meet elders to learn about African values, the role of tradition in the modern world and preserving African values for the next generation.
